Prayer for Our Nation

Prayer for Our Nation: We are enjoined to pray for the nation
of our citizenship and domicile.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love
thee” (Psalm 122:6).

In fact, Israel was instructed to seek the peace of Babylon to
which it was exiled.

“And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to
be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in
the peace thereof shall ye have peace” (Jeremiah 29:7).

Nationality Reflects Spiritual Citizenship: That there is a
visible nation to which you belong is a reflection that there is
also a spiritual nation to which you belong.

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but
having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and
embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and
pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare
plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been
mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might
have had opportunity to have returned” (Hebrews 11:13-15).

“For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we look for
the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).

Your allegiance to the nation of your citizenship is one of your
services to God and to the nation. Apart from obeying the laws

of that nation, praying for the nation is a major sign of
allegiance.

Prayer for Our Nation

Thanksgiving: Father, thank You for the nation of my
citizenship and domicile. Be magnified in Jesus name.
National Salvation: Father, visit my country with Your
salvation in Jesus name. Like You delivered the whole of
Nineveh, let my country be delivered on Jesus name. Let us
all humble ourselves before You and come under You
Lordship in Jesus name.
“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a
fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to
the least of them” (Jonah 3:5).
Prayer for National Leaders: Father, You are the Governor
of all the earth, take over the government of my country in
Jesus name. Let its leaders and officers know and fear You in
Jesus name. Let Your government reflect in all their decisions
and activities in Jesus name.
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For
kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1 Timothy
2:1-2).
Prayer for the Citizens: Father, let the citizens of our nation
know and fear You in Jesus name. Let them obey the laws of
the land and learn to live in peace with one another. Let them
give their quota to the nation to help its growth and prosperity
in Jesus name.

Prayer for the Sectors of the Nation: Lord, take over the
detail and running of all the sectors of our national life: its
economy, religion, education, judiciary, armed forces, social
life, sports, and everything that makes up nationhood in Jesus
name. Let none be a hindrance to the growth of our nation in
Jesus name.
Deliverance from Difficulties: Lord of all creation, let our
nation overcome all its challenges in Jesus name.
Thank You for answered prayers. In Jesus name I have
prayed. Amen!
